Need Y and Kei apparel at a discount? This is the guide for some of the best alternatives, anywhere online. I've decided to list some websites that seem to consistently have the lowest prices. Below are the websites that I recommend.
Y & K is run by a team of husband and wife, "Y" means Hanii Yoon and "Kei" means Gene Kang. They launched this label to fulfill the Buddhist belief that is "Watering the Earth" and nourishing this world with happy as well as beauty. Y & Kei fashion exhibits Asian influence as well as European edge and sexiness.
The New York Times said that "unlike Marc Jacobs with Sofia Coppola or Karl Lagerfeld with Amanda Harlech, this Y & Kei got massive publicity. Their intention is nothing lesser than a full occupation of America with their fashion design. To achieve this they roam every inch of New York City".
There does not seem to be any recent information about this couple. The latest thing that I can find for this brand are runway reviews from 2008. Apparently, that's because this label has been defunct since 2008. In 2009, Hanii Yoon launched her own brand, which you can now find in Barneys', Bergdorf Goodman and Bloomingdales. Links to search results for her former brand are below:
In the search for designers on blogs, sometimes you run across new and interesting things. I did just that on my search for this designer. There's a blogspot that this label is mentioned on called "seen on STARDOLL!". It shows a photo of a model walking down a runway right next to an illustrated interpretation of the image. It does this for several images. They should make this into an app. On the other end of the spectrum was an extremely artsy blog that compares this label's designs to the four elements, earth, wind, fire and water. Really?
Given that this is a defunct label and given that the holiday season is now here, it may be especially useful to have additional venues to choose from. The wonderful thing about e-commerce from the consumer point of view is that there are always new upstarts to seek to take advantage of perceived consumer disatifaction with current choices. Whether they successfully do so remains to be seen. Here are some new marketplace/auctions to check out:
